Iliana Itzel León Vega, MsC

Research

I started working on my PhD thesis in the lab of Dr. Michael Schnoor investigating the role of myosin 1e during experimental colitis and colorectal cancer.  During my master's, I performed bioinformatics and experimental research mentored by Dr. Michael Schnoor and Dr. Eduardo Vadillo. I analyzed the role of myosin 1e, an actin-binding protein that has been recently shown to be expressed in neutrophils, for neutrophil effector functions. During my B.Sc. thesis I investigated the variability in the evasion capacity of the innate immune response of Flavivirusisolates in endemic areas of Mexico. A project developed at UBIMED, FES-Iztacala UNAM.
